About me

Hi, I’m Alaa — a Palestinian Jordanian filmmaker raised in Saudi, educated in London, and currently navigating life somewhere between Amman and Washington, DC (with frequent layovers in memory, identity, and the YouTube algorithm).

I make things. Mostly stories. Sometimes short documentaries that win awards. Sometimes Gen Z digital platforms (hi Zync). And sometimes deeply personal films about faith, feminism, and all the beautiful contradictions that come with being from everywhere and nowhere at once.

By day, I produce, write, strategize, and sometimes obsess over engagement dashboards. By night, I dance in my kitchen and plot my next big idea. I’ve produced 30+ documentaries for Al Jazeera English, launched a viral web series (Tababa, 12M+ views), and built teams of digital storytellers who care as much about nuance as they do about memes.

I’ve got a master’s in Ethnographic and Documentary Film from UCL, a background in animation, and a soft spot for stories that challenge the script. My compass? Make people feel seen, build bridges across cultures, and never underestimate the power of a good story (or a well-timed TikTok).
